My name is Maria, and I am fundraising for my son José. He is 11 years old, and we are originally from Argentina. We moved to the United States three years ago to give him the chance to access clinical trials and treatments that could improve his quality of life.
Like every child, José has a dream. His biggest wish is to share a magical trip with his family and experience Disney and Universal—something he will truly enjoy while he is still able to walk.
We feel incredibly blessed that amazing organizations like Make-A-Wish and Give Kids the World will cover all expenses for immediate family members. However, they are unfortunately unable to cover the theme park tickets for my daughter-in-law, Vianey, who married my oldest son just a year ago. Vianey is an important part of our family, and José deeply wants her to be there with us.
A few days ago, I shared our situation in a Duchenne support group on Facebook, simply asking for advice on finding affordable tickets. To my surprise, many families offered to help us make this possible. That is how this fundraiser was born.
This expense was not something we had planned for, and right now, it is beyond what we can manage—especially with park ticket prices rising in October. Any contribution, no matter the amount, brings us closer to making José’s dream a reality.
We are alone here in the U.S., far from extended family, and having Vianey with us would mean the world to José and to all of us.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for helping us give José this unforgettable experience.
