Hi, I'm Ms. Pennykay. I am raising funds for a TED Talk that will bring awareness to communities on how human traffickers groom young people to become slaves in the traffickers' web of sexual or labor slavery. Knowing the fact that a large percentage of traffickers are friends or family members who will sell a person for drugs or money, I speak from experience because I was 6 years old the first time I was raped. I was sold many times until I felt like an old piece of rag.
On July 13, 1987, a man by the name of Melvin Mast, who was the director for TFC, a mobile chapel at a truck stop, showed me deep compassion and kindness that touched my heart deeply. From that day to today, I am free from being someone's slave for sex, labor, and money. I fight for young people so they can enjoy their youth. My childhood was taken away from me when I was 6, so I never got to just play. I believe education is the key to stopping human slavery.
