Hi everyone,

I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear friend and his family in Jamaica, who have been devastated by Hurricane Melissa. Since GoFundMe isn’t available in Jamaica, this campaign is his cry for help, and I promised to do everything I can to help share his story and raise support from here.

I met him during my trip to Jamaica — he was our tour guide, showing us around with warmth, laughter, and pride in his country. He worked tirelessly every day to support his young daughter and family, and now everything he’s worked so hard for has been torn apart.

When the hurricane hit, their roof was ripped completely off, and nearly all of their clothes, furniture, and belongings were destroyed. Now, his family — including his little girl — are crowded together under the only small section of the house still standing, trying to stay dry and safe. They’re running out of food and basic necessities, and with roads destroyed, stores closed, and power down, help has been almost impossible to find.

Despite all of this, he continues to stay hopeful and strong for his family. But they can’t do it alone. Every donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward rebuilding their roof, buying food, clothing, and essential supplies, and helping them start again after losing everything.
