On August 5th 2025, a tragic accident occurred at Fort Erie Racetrack. Veteran jockey Omar Moreno suffered a fractured C3 vertebra in his neck when the horse he was riding collapsed underneath him just after the finish line in Race 6. Currently Omar has numbness in both arms from his shoulders to his fingertips. We will update this information as it becomes available.
This devastating injury has brought Omar’s riding career to an abrupt and heartbreaking end. His road to recovery will be long and uncertain—doctors anticipate a minimum of several months, possibly a year or more, before he regains full function.
As he begins this difficult journey, Omar is now facing extensive medical treatments, rehabilitation, and daily living expenses—all without a source of income. Like many professional athletes, jockeys are often without benefits or long-term disability coverage, leaving them vulnerable when serious injuries occur.
Omar has always been a fighter in life and on the track. Known for his work ethic, determination, and love for horses, he now needs our help more than ever.
Your donation will go directly towards Omars recovery.
Every dollar helps—no amount is too small. If you’re unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign with others.
Let’s rally around Omar and show him he’s not alone in this fight.
Thank you for your support.
