Those who know me know how hard it is for me to ask for help but today, I’m putting that pride aside for Pinto.

Pinto is a semi-feral stray who’s lived on our block for years. Despite being regularly fed by kind neighbors, he remained painfully thin. Over the winter, I noticed he had developed a limp. I brought him to ACCT Philly for medical care, but their vets couldn’t find any fractures or injuries, so he was released back to the street.

His limp persisted, and he continued to look frail and unwell. I couldn’t bear to watch him suffer any longer, so I trapped him and brought him indoors.

Since then, Pinto has started to blossom. He’s now accepting pets, purring, and slowly learning that he’s safe. His limp has even gone away, which may have been caused by his early-stage kidney disease (stage 1-2), something we discovered after a vet visit.

But Pinto’s biggest hurdle right now is his mouth. He desperately needs dental work, including several extractions. He also has an infection likely stemming from his severe dental issues and is FIV+. His breath is awful, and he’s clearly uncomfortable, but still trying so hard to trust and heal.
