From The Streets To My Heart- Help Michi Recover

Hi, my name is Astrid, and I’m raising funds to help my sweet kitten, Michi, recover from a painful injury after a terrible accident.

Two nights ago, around 10pm, Michi spotted an open window and, full of curiosity as always, jumped onto a ledge outside. From there, he fell over 9 feet to the ground. We found him shortly after, crying in pain around the corner of our duplex. It was terrifying.

We rushed him to the emergency vet, but because of his anxiety, Michi needs to be sedated before he can be properly examined or treated. Unfortunately, the cost of emergency sedation and care was more than we could afford that night. Despite the emotional toll, we spent the entire morning calling every vet in our area until we found one who could see him.

At the vet, Michi was sedated for X-rays and a full exam. He could barely walk and was clearly in a lot of pain. After hours of testing, we learned that he had sprained both of his front paws. He now needs splints on both legs for the next 8 weeks, and they’ll need to be changed weekly — a process that adds up quickly in vet bills. He's also being monitored for other potential injuries that might require a CT scan.

At home, Michi now needs constant care. I help him eat, use the bathroom, and get around — his mobility is limited, and it breaks my heart to see him struggle with the most basic things he used to do with ease.

Michi came into my life last August, and from the start, he was something special. I was driving home from work after midnight when I saw a tiny kitten dart toward the road. I pulled over and called out to him — and to my surprise, he ran straight into my arms. I brought him home that night, gave him love, warmth, and care, and took him to the vet the very next day because he seemed sick. With a little help, he recovered quickly and has been part of my family ever since.

He has the most lovable, goofy personality. He loves to flop on his belly when he plays, is incredibly food-motivated, and enjoys wrestling with his siblings and chasing toys around the house. Seeing him in pain, unable to do the things he loves is heartbreaking.

Michi’s recovery journey is just beginning, and he’s going to need more care, more testing, and more vet visits. As a college student already navigating financial challenges, I simply can’t afford these costs on my own. That’s why I’m asking for your help.
