From the Motherland to Fisk University: Help Adella Soar
Donazione protetta
Beloved Village,
I’m Marlee-I Mystic: a birthworker, sound healer, and mama on a mission. Today, I invite you to witness and invest in a powerful moment of becoming.
My daughter Adella is about to embark on two sacred journeys, one across the ocean, and one into her future.
This July, Adella will join a life-changing pilgrimage across Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar with a delegation of Black women birthworkers, healers, and cultural keepers. Together, we will study traditional birthing wisdom, honor ancestral lineages, and root ourselves in the global Black experience of care and community.
And then—in August—Adella will move into her dorm at Fisk University, the prestigious HBCU in Nashville, TN, where she’ll major in English with the intention of becoming a librarian, author, and cultural curator.
This is not just a college journey—it’s a spiritual continuation of our legacy.
From the shores of East Africa to the historic halls of Fisk, Adella is walking a path that bridges healing, heritage, and higher education.
What We’re Calling In:
To make this sacred season of growth and expansion possible, we are raising funds to support Adella’s journey. These will help cover:
- Fisk University tuition + fees for the academic year
- Books, supplies, and living essentials
- Roundtrip flights home on school breaks
- Support for her upcoming trip to Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar, where she’ll engage in ancestral learning, traditional birthwork education, and cultural immersion with a cohort of Black women healers
- Emergency and gap funding for unexpected needs that arise on the road to independence
This is about more than travel or tuition, it’s about equipping a young Black woman with the tools, experiences, and support to step into her purpose fully and freely. She is not just attending school, she is walking a healing path that will ripple far beyond herself.
She’s actively applying for scholarships, but financial aid falls short of the full cost. As a single mother who has poured into community wellness and birth justice for years, I’m now asking our extended village to pour into her.
Why Support Adella?
Adella is a light-bearer. A poetic spirit with an old soul. She’s been my anchor, her sister’s confidante, a budding birthworker in her own right, and a fierce student of history and healing. Her dreams are not rooted in individual success—they are about preserving culture, uplifting community, and embodying intergenerational resilience.
To witness her take her first international trip and begin her HBCU journey within the same season is nothing short of divine orchestration. She is doing this not just for herself, but for those who came before and those yet to come.
This is our daughter. Our investment. Our joy.
