Dear Family, friends, and others who may be interested in assisting me, My name is Gerard Kelly, and I am from Newfoundland, Canada. I have been in Peru for some time now, and I have a 6-year-old daughter who is the love of my life. I am living here with my daughter and wife. I have been seeing a Cardiologist for over a year with high blood pressure, and on a recent visit, he thought it a good idea for me to have an MRI of my heart. He was surprised to discover that I had calcified blockages in at least two of my main arteries. So he arranged for cardiac catheterization and angiogram, which returned even worse news. I have been diagnosed with acute heart disease, and 4 of my main arteries show blockages of 80% or more. This had gone unnoticed as I was asymptomatic or showing little effect. Now I require immediate medical intervention, and I have surgery scheduled for next Thursday here in Lima, Peru. This procedure has been pushed forward as my condition is considered an emergency. My insurance here will possibly cover 60% of the cost, but I must pay the remainder. I receive a small pension from my retirement, but it can not cover these costs.
