My name is Sam Routhier. I'm in my 18th year of teaching and my 15th year of teaching AP History at KIPP-NYC College Prep High School, a high-performing charter school located in the South Bronx. This year is my first year teaching AP US History. I'm having a great time moving up with my students from AP World History last year and digging into the contradictions and ideals that make up this country.

With the coming election, the hopeful possibility of our first female president, and my unique situation delivering US history material to such a special group of kids, I am hoping to take my students to see Suffs, a musical about the Suffragette movement, on Broadway. I have booked 100 seats for the matinee the day before Thanksgiving, and now I need to fundraise to pay for the tickets. With donors' help, I'll be able to give students a unique experience to add to their US history course, their life as New Yorkers, and their future as champions of feminism and democracy.
