She sacrificed her art so we could eat. Now, she sits in her wheelchair inches away from the stove, unable to reach the burners because the kitchen is completely inaccessible. First, poverty kept her out of the kitchen. Now, architecture is keeping her out. It is a heartbreak I cannot put into words.
