From Surviving Twice to Thriving: Help Melissa Heal Fully

My name is Melissa, and at 38 years old I am proud to say I’ve survived cancer twice, lost over 230 pounds, and completely transformed my life after years of hardship.

For most of my life, I carried the weight of not only my body—at one point reaching 400 pounds—but also the pain of illness, insecurity, and struggle. In my early 30s, I was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. After enduring chemotherapy and radiation, I was declared in remission. For five years, I lived cancer-free, which typically signals permanent healing—since most recurrences happen within the first two years.

But just as I thought I was in the clear, cancer came back. At the five-year mark, when I should have been celebrating full recovery,I faced a devastating relapse. I had to endure even more aggressive treatment, including another round of chemotherapy, radiation, and a stem cell transplant.

I am deeply grateful that I survived not once, but twice. Beating cancer two times taught me resilience and gave me a second chance at life. Inspired by this, I committed to changing my health completely. Through dedication and determination, I lost more than 230 pounds and rebuilt myself, inside and out.

But despite everything I’ve overcome, I now face a new challenge. The massive weight loss has left me with painful, heavy excess skin on my stomach, legs, and lower body. This skin causes constant discomfort, limits my mobility, and prevents me from fully embracing the healthier, happier life I’ve fought so hard to create.

This is why I am asking for your help. I am raising funds for skin removal surgery:including procedures on my stomach, thighs, and buttocks. I want to not only improve my health and mobility, but also to finally see my body reflect the strength and determination that carried me through every battle.

Your support will help me close this final chapter of survival and step fully into a new one of confidence, freedom, and joy.

Today, Melissa is doing everything she can to live life to the fullest. She fills her home with love from her five cats, finds joy and freedom in going to concerts, and dedicates herself to working out and staying active. After years of battling cancer and carrying the weight of the past, she is focused on building her healthiest, happiest life—one filled with movement, laughter, music, and the everyday moments she once feared she might lose.
