I’ve spent my life taking care of everyone else. Today, I’m asking for help to finally take care of myself.

Survival was.
I grew up in poverty, in a life shaped by constant pressure and responsibility. By the age of 12, I was helping provide for my mother, my father, my sister, and her five children. Childhood quickly became sacrifice. I learned early that my needs came last—because they had to. And so I carried that mindset into adulthood. I showed up. I pushed forward. I endured. But I never gave up.
I held tightly to my education, even when everything around me suggested I wouldn’t make it. Through obstacles—both visible and invisible—I kept going.
And against the odds, I earned my doctorate.
I broke cycles.
I became everything I once dreamed of—and everything my mother believed I could be. But while I was building a future for everyone else, I was quietly neglecting something critical: my health. Dental care was never accessible growing up. It wasn’t a priority—it was a luxury. Something to postpone. Something to endure.
Over time, a combination of limited access to care, ongoing medical challenges, and periods of food insecurity took a cumulative toll on my dental health—ultimately leading to the level of deterioration I am now facing today.
I want to be fully transparent that I am actively exploring every possible avenue to reduce costs and access care responsibly. This includes pursuing treatment through dental schools, academic clinics, and other lower-cost care programs where appropriate.
Even with these efforts, the scope and complexity of the work required remain significant, and the financial gap is still far beyond what I can manage alone.
Now, after years of pushing through discomfort and pain, I’m facing the reality of what that neglect has become. And it’s overwhelming.

I now require extensive dental restoration—including bridges, implants, and multiple procedures necessary not just for appearance, but for basic function and long-term health.
