From Stroke to Hope...Her Healing Journey Begins

Donation protected
Hello, My name is Maurice Thomas, I never thought I would have to establish one of these but here I am. This Fundraiser is not for me but rather my younger sister Cea (32 yrs old) a single mother to my niece Morgan (10 yrs old).

October 10, 2024, started as a typical day. Single Mother, Hotel Receptionist, Cea Thomas woke up as a healthy 32-year old. Cea was asked by her mother to go shopping in Ross for her upcoming trip to see her grandbabies. Enjoying the warm weather as they headed to a near by ross in search of a bottle of perfume. Little did they know that they were edging closer to the moment that would change their lives forever. Within a few short hours, and while at Ross with her mother, Cea would suffer a stroke.

Loved ones have set up this GoFundMe page to cover the medical expenses, loss of income, rehabilitation time, and relocation costs for Cea Thomas.

First, we want to tell you a bit about Cea. She is known to be a very independent, homebody, and a working single mom of 1. By "day" she is a Hotel Receptionist, by "night" she is a mother who focuses on spending time with her family. You could almost always find Cea working, or tending to the needs of her daughter. Unfortunately, her speech, cognition, and mobility are significantly impacted due to her stroke; this will affect Cea’s ability to partake in the things that she enjoys, but the effects of the stroke have also impacted how she will acquire income and stability for her and her daughter.

What Happened

On the day of the stroke, Cea was rushed to a local Texas hospital after her mother snapped into action, She noticed something was very wrong with her daughter and began screaming for help at the store. Her mother’s pleas for help got the attention of the store managers and cashiers. They called 911, treated Cea and her mother with so much kindness, and consoled her mom as she was rushed to the hospital.

Once at the hospital, the doctors failed to run a CT Scan and checked her vitals. Since this hospital was a hospital for profit, they inquired about insurance to find she didn't have any. So they looked her over and said nothing was wrong, even though her BP reading was 157/127, her mother was told it wasn't nothing to be concerned about, and her daughter was released.

The very next day would be the most devastating as a mother had to watch her daughter have another stroke in their home, and be rushed to a different hospital closer to them. Once received by this hospital, the doctors and nurses jumped into action. She was rushed into the back and test were run. Once the doctors had narrowed down the cause it was to late the major damage had been done. She was diagnosed as having a blood cancer known as Essential thrombocythemia, which can cause blood clots anywhere in the body. This caused a major artery on her right side to burst paralyzing her right side.

As early as this week, medical bills are beginning to pour in. They are estimated to reach thousands of dollars. Therefore, we are asking for assistance in covering the accumulated costs between the ambulance, care at the local hospital, and treatment for homecare medical equipment needed.

Cea is currently in ICU. She will soon be released in approximately 3wks to begin rehabilitation, learning how to use her Right side again, gaining strength to talk, walk and take care of her daily needs. Once discharged, She will also need further monitoring for clots that remain, and intensive therapy (physical, speech, occupational) to improve her quality of life.

Medical equipment: assistive devices (wheelchair/ walker/ Bed, handicap accessible bathing and mobility aids)

Cea is a resident of Texas; we are asking for donations to help with her medical equipment and renovation needs. So that when she is discharged from the rehabilitation facility, she can continue her healing journey with her daughter and have continuous care with the support of her mother .

We know that life happens fast and tragic; unexpected moments can happen to any of us. If you pray, please pray. If you manifest, please manifest, We ask you to send Cea good thoughts and energy everyday. Share Cea's story across as many platforms as you have available.

And if you are able, please donate for Cea’s medical bills, moving expenses and rehabilitation. Any help would be greatly appreciated to ease some of the stress of this time. Thank you all, and Blessings be upon you!
