ANIMAL ABUSE TRIGGER WARNING:
The monster that was my previous owner beat me daily. This is what I have overcome. I am working through my stress response and anxiety in training this month. Please continue on to read my rescue story!

Hi, I'm Otis. About 1 year ago, I was born on the streets of Venice with four other pups. My new Dad took me from my mom before I was a few weeks old. He loved me, but he beat me when he wasn't in a good place.

My new uncles and aunts rescued me a few weeks ago, and, boy, my life has changed! I had my first of many baths, I NOW HAVE TOYS, I run on the beach (that's awesome because I never got to run before), and best of all, I get to play with all kinds of dog friends, big and small, young and old and I love THEM ALL! Oh yeah, and if you have never had a bully stick, they are AWESOME!

Otis's Uncles and Aunts:

Don't judge a book by its cover. Otis is an approximately one-year-old, 75-lb staffy/lab mix. Despite being viciously beaten, he doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He is the kindest, sweetest dog you've ever met. He is also highly responsive to training, having learned to sit, stay, and down within a few days. Otis hasn't demonstrated any aggression with dogs or humans, including food issues, which is rare considering he began his life on the streets with a homeless drug addict.

With the above in mind, because he was pulled from his litter at such a young age and also beaten, he has a difficult time being leash corrected and immediately rolls on his back, cowers, and cries. Also, because he had limited social interaction (typically learned through play with littermates), he doesn't know his strength when mouthing and playing—two things that will need formal training before he goes to his forever home.

We, along with the generosity of LoveLeo, have funded his care, including all medical (shots, neutering, etc.). We are now looking for a little extra help to fund his training. Training that will ensure that the inconsistency and fear his first Dad instilled is replaced with love, security, and stability.

Our goal is $3000,
which will pay for professional training and allow our little Otis to live his best life. Considering his start, we can't think of anyone more deserving.
