My name is Mishki, and before I was a year old, I learned what it meant to fight just to stay alive.
I’m very young — likely under one year old — but my life began on the streets. One night in Quito, I was found huddled in front of a closed shop, crying and shaking in the dark. I had nowhere to go, no protection, and no idea if anyone would stop to help me.
For a long time, every day was about surviving: finding food, avoiding danger, and hoping I wouldn’t be hurt. Because I wasn’t spayed, I became a target. Other dogs attacked me simply because of that. I sustained injuries — a bite wound near my eye, marks under my chin, and the kind of trauma that stays with you even after the wounds heal. Thankfully, my injuries were considered minor, but for a dog so young, they were frightening and painful.
Even after everything, I never stopped trusting people.
Before I was rescued, I already knew how to sit, lay down, stay, and give my paw. I’m extremely intelligent, eager to learn, and deeply bonded to humans — which means someone once cared for me. Somewhere along the way, I was lost, and I ended up trying to survive on my own.
Then someone saw me and decided my life mattered.
I was taken off the streets and to the vet, where I was checked and cleared of serious diseases. I’m finally safe — but my journey isn’t finished yet. I still need to be spayed so I’m never put in danger like that again. I also need continued veterinary care, vaccinations, and support as I heal physically and emotionally.
There’s another major step ahead: getting me home.
Bringing me to the United States is expensive. Travel arrangements, paperwork, and transport costs add up quickly. Beyond that, additional funds will go toward future vet visits, pet insurance, and long-term care costs to make sure I stay healthy and protected for life.
My rescuer also has a bigger goal for me.
Because of my intelligence, temperament, and strong connection to people, the long-term plan is for me to receive professional training toward service dog certification. This requires structured training, time, and financial support — but it would allow me to give back the same loyalty, comfort, and purpose that saved my life.
That’s why I’m asking for your help.
Every donation helps cover my medical care, spay surgery, travel home, future veterinary needs, insurance, and specialized training. If you’re unable to donate, sharing my story still helps more than you know.
Thank you for believing in me — in Mishki (“Sweet” in Kichwa).
Because of kindness like yours, my life is no longer about surviving the streets, but about growing into the dog I was always meant to be. ❤️
