From Stray to Safe: Catalina’s Rescue Story
On June 12, 2025, I found a tiny, scared kitten— we named her Catalina after the character in My Name Is Earl—hiding on my porch. Sneezing with goopy eyes, she dodged capture for three days, climbing near Simon’s (Firefly) enclosure! A TNR program’s ear-clip and spay showed her past, but she was too sick to survive outside. Vets found an upper respiratory infection and a painful eye ulcer from rubbing. Surgery and meds cost over $600, tough since I’m unemployed, but Catalina’s purring and playing now! Her July 7 vet visit will check her eye, with vaccines next to join my TV-named crew: Simon, River, Inara (Firefly), Walter (Breaking Bad), and Nandor, Laszlo, and a gender swapped Collen Robinson (What We Do in the Shadows), all eager to meet her. This GoFundMe seeks $750 for $600 surgery/meds, $100 vaccines, and $50 follow-ups. Extra funds will help Simon’s stability issues and my dream of a cat rescue with a safe outdoor enclosure for strays like Catalina. Your donation—big or small—will ensure Catalina thrives and kickstart my rescue mission. Follow her story on Instagram (@Davidthecatguy) and share with animal lovers, Earl, Firefly, or Shadows fans! Thank you for helping Catalina go from stray to safe and supporting my quirky cat family! And for creating positive ripples in society!
