From stagehand to Stage 4...

My friend Victor Janflone is battling stage 4 liver cancer

and is undergoing chemo as you read this.

Victor, just 57, worked for many years as a union stagehand

at Pittsburgh's Public Theater and many other theaters and venues. Some of you locals may have even attended one of the shows he helped bring to the community.

Now, we humbly ask you to be the performer and act by helping him with the many bills that are ever accumulating. Victor's previous hospitalization and operation for colon cancer in 2021 had already depleted much of his savings. Today, we are shocked to learn that while in this dire situation, his disability payments (which won't even cover all his bills) will take over five long months to process, and he simply can't wait that long.

More about my friend: he gave (and will give again!) back to the community by creating and hosting "Arts and Music with Victor Janflone", a series of interviews on public access TV and Youtube. I had the pleasure of meeting him online in 2017 when he interviewed me about my life and film Homme Less.

A year after recording our episode, he visited NYC, and we met for breakfast. I didn't see him again until August 2022, after he reluctantly revealed his medical situation, and I came to Pittsburgh to offer moral support.

Although ill, Victor summoned the strength to take me around town as best he could. We talked about life, had some laughs and some tears, and spoke about hopes of better times and, after he recovers, more life to be lived.
