Hello everyone!

My name is Taniyah, and I am a driven second-year Political Science major at Spelman College, pursuing my teaching certification in secondary education. This summer, I have the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Japan, an experience that will allow me to expand my global perspective and provide a stepping stone for conducting comparative research on international education systems.

For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of traveling the world, immersing myself in new cultures, and gaining firsthand knowledge of successful educational models that could transform American schools. As an aspiring educator and policy researcher, my goal is to analyze the best practices of high-performing education systems like Japan’s and explore how we can integrate effective strategies into U.S. classrooms to foster student success.

While I have been working diligently to fund my trip through applying to scholarships, work-study, stipends from my Spelman Bonner Scholarship, and my spring internship, I still need an extra push to cover airfare. The total program cost is $3,300, and every dollar donated brings me closer to making this life-changing experience a reality.
