Hi everyone,
My name is Billy Brown, I’m 25 years old from Llandudno, North Wales.
I’m taking part in the “Hit The Ground Running” challenge in support of Rock2Recovery — an incredible mental health charity dedicated to supporting veterans, emergency service personnel, and anyone struggling with their mental health.
Why I’m taking part
I wanted to challenge myself to step far outside my comfort zone while doing something meaningful. Mental health is something that affects so many people silently, and I want to play a small part in helping break that silence and encourage people to seek support when they need it.
I was also sceptical about setting up a GoFundMe page at first, as asking for help or donations doesn’t come naturally to me. But I’ve realised that if stepping outside my comfort zone can help raise awareness and funds for something so important, then it’s worth doing.
Why Rock2Recovery
Rock2Recovery provides life-changing support for those dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, and other mental health challenges. They specialise in supporting veterans and emergency service personnel, helping them rebuild, recover, and reconnect through understanding and guidance. Their work is vital, especially in communities where support can be hard to access or where people feel they have to struggle alone.
The challenge
As part of this event, I’ll be completing a tandem skydive from 15,000ft, followed by training for and running a marathon route from Salisbury to Bournemouth. These are both physically and mentally demanding challenges, and together they form part of a wider community recovery event focused on resilience, awareness, and support.
Why donations matter
Every donation, no matter how small, directly supports Rock2Recovery’s work. The funds raised help them continue providing one-to-one support, outreach, and recovery programmes for people who are struggling and need someone to listen and guide them forward.
Too many people suffer in silence, especially in smaller communities where help can feel out of reach. Your support helps change that.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, for donating, sharing, or supporting in any way. It genuinely means a lot.
