Hi, my name is Marcita, and I’m a single mother of four who was recently accepted into Cal State Northridge MFA program for Screenwriting.

This opportunity means everything to me. Writing has been a part of my life since I was 9 years old as a child, and after years of putting my dreams on hold to focus on survival, motherhood, and providing for my family, I finally took the leap to pursue the path that has always called me.

Being accepted into this program is more than a school admission. It is a chance to change the direction of my family’s future and build a career telling meaningful stories centered on truth, resilience, and voices that deserve to be heard.

I am raising funds to help with the cost of relocating to be closer to Northridge, because I am currently in Modesto, CA so I can begin this next chapter. Donations will go toward moving expenses, housing deposits, transportation, and the costs that come with transitioning my family for school.
