From Setback to Strength: Olu's journey to walk freely again

Hello, my name is Olubiyi Jibowu , and I’m reaching out to ask for your support as I continue to recover from a life-changing experience.
In August 2023, I underwent a below-the-knee amputation on my left leg after a sudden and severe infection. What started as a simple burn from hot water during a pedicure escalated quickly. I tried to treat it at home, unaware of how serious the situation would become. I was later diagnosed with diabetes, which slowed the healing process and worsened the infection. By the time I sought proper medical attention, doctors at King’s College Hospital had no choice but to amputate to save my life.
The journey since then has been both physically and emotionally challenging. I spent weeks in the hospital and rehabilitation centres, learning how to adapt to life with a prosthetic. There were setbacks — including falls that reopened my stitches — but I remained determined not to give up.
Thanks to the incredible support of my family, friends, and workplace, I’ve made progress. I currently use a prosthetic leg, but it’s heavy, uncomfortable, and limits how far I can walk. The reality is, it makes everyday activities difficult and painful.
That’s why I’m asking for help. I’m raising funds for a high-quality titanium prosthetic leg — one that’s lighter, more durable, and would greatly improve my mobility and independence. With the right prosthetic, I believe I can walk more comfortably, return fully to work, and live life without constant pain and fatigue.
Your support will go directly toward the cost of this prosthetic and related rehabilitation expenses. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a big difference. If you’re not able to donate, sharing this campaign with others would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated.
