Help My Family Survive in Gaza

Donation protected
Dear Supporters,

I am Ali Mohammed, and I'm reaching out to you today to help raise funds for my brother-in-law, Wael Abuajwa, and his family, as seen in the picture:

Imagine waking up to the sound of an explosion, only to find yourself thrown from the fourth floor, lying on a neighbor's rooftop, surrounded by rubble and destruction. This was the harsh reality for Wael Abuajwa, a father of five living in Gaza. In a split second, his world crumbled, leaving him and his young son as the sole survivors of a devastating missile strike that claimed the lives of his wife and three daughters.

As Wael lay motionless, he caught a glimpse of his daughter Sara, lifeless beside him – a sight that will forever haunt him. His wife and three other girls were found on the ground floor, their lives tragically cut short. The once-lively family home on the fourth floor of the four-story building, which they had called their sanctuary, was reduced to a pile of debris, leaving behind only heartbreaking memories. Although the entire building was not demolished, it remains uninhabited.

In the aftermath of this unimaginable tragedy, Wael found himself grappling not only with the loss of his loved ones but also with severe injuries that have left him unable to walk. Two months later, he can barely move without assistance, his son remains traumatized, and their future hangs in the balance.

This tragic story of the family being struck by a missile in Gaza was covered in the news, as shown in this article:

Wael's mother escaped with minor injuries. Sadly, Wael's brother, Hussein, has passed away, leaving behind 2 kids and a wife.

With their home destroyed and nothing left but the clothes on their backs, Wael, his son, and his mother have been forced to seek refuge in friends' houses, constantly relocating as the building they once called home continues to crumble. The situation is dire, with Israeli soldiers now occupying the remains of their former sanctuary.

In this time of unimaginable hardship, Wael and his family desperately need our support. They seek to escape the ongoing turmoil in Gaza and find solace in Turkey, where Wael can receive the medical treatment he urgently requires to regain his mobility. However, the financial hurdles they face are immense, with exorbitant fees for visas, travel, and medical expenses.

We have a chance to alleviate their suffering and provide them with a glimmer of hope. By contributing to this GoFundMe campaign, we can help Wael, his son, and his mother secure safe passage to Turkey, where he can receive the necessary medical care, and Donia’s family and Hussein's sons and mother can find temporary shelter in Egypt.

The breakdown of expenses is as follows:

  • Rafah/Egypt crossing fees (visas and entry): $31,500 => $7,000/adult person, $3500/child and we are 3 adults and 3 children.
  • Travel to Turkey for Wael, his son, and mother: $2,500
  • Hospital and physiotherapy expenses in Turkey: $15,000
  • Accommodation and road expenses for 2 families: $6000

Due to strict border controls and circumstances of the war, Palestinian nationals must pay exorbitant fees to gain entry into Egypt through the Rafah border crossing.

Your donation, no matter how small, could be the lifeline this family so desperately needs. It is a chance to restore their faith in humanity and let them know that they are not alone in their darkest hour.

Your compassion and generosity can turn their despair into hope, allowing them to rebuild their lives and find solace after unimaginable loss.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Ali Mohammed.
