Hi, I’m Faizah. I’m an author, an astrophysicist, and a filmmaker, and I’m from Timișoara. This film exists because this city exists. I grew up listening to stories from the elderly here, people who lived through fear, silence, hunger, resistance, and hope. They shaped the way I see the world and the way I understand courage and memory.
My mother came to Romania from India to study medicine. She fell in love with this country, its people, and its resilience. Romania became her home, and through her, it became mine. The Art of Making a Forgotten Cup of Tea is a story about memory, revolution, and the moments history often forgets. It is about Timișoara, about 1989, and about ordinary people caught in extraordinary times, especially children and families who had no choice but to endure and survive.
This is not just a film to me, it is a love letter to Romania and to those who resisted, those who were silenced, and those who are still here witnessing the aftermath. We are crowdfunding this project independently because stories like this deserve to be told with care, honesty, and love, without being rushed or diluted.
