Help Support Our Friend and Co-Worker, Chelsea Witherup!!
On May 2nd, Chelsea Witherup was seriously injured while doing what she loves, helping animals. During her time off, from being an Animal Control Officer for the City of Virginia Beach, Chelsea spends her time rehabilitating neglected horses. That day, a horse she was working with became spooked, and Chelsea had to perform an emergency dismount to protect both herself and the horse. In doing so, she suffered a fractured femur and a severe ankle sprain.
Chelsea underwent surgery the following morning, where doctors had to screw the broken piece of bone back into place and reinforce the area with plates. She’s now facing at least four weeks without being able to bear weight and 12 weeks minimum on crutches.
Working with horses provided Chelsea with a supplemental income she depending on. Now she is facing the financial burden of rent, everyday living expenses, and the additional cost of her upcoming medical bills and ongoing physical therapy.
Chelsea is the type of person who always gives to others and never asks for anything in return. Now, she needs us. Any donation, big or small, will go directly toward helping her get through this difficult time.
Let’s show her the same support and compassion she shows to every animal and person she helps.
