Hi! This is Zac & Astrid and we need your help!

A few weeks ago, a scared dog appeared on our rural road. We checked with the neighbors and found out that she didn't belong to anyone nearby, so we assume she had been dumped.

For 2 weeks, she survived on her own in the outdoors during the cold weather. We couldn't let her suffer, so we set up a trap to catch her and bring her home. After a few days, we finally trapped her!

She came home with us hungry and unsure, but from day one she showed nothing but gentleness and so much love to give. We took her to the vet the next day to check for a microchip, hoping she had a family looking for her. Sadly, she didn't.

So we made the decision to adopt her.

She is a beautiful German Shepherd-Husky mix, and we believe she has the potential to be an incredible farm dog. We live on a homestead with 3 dogs, 5 cats, chickens, and livestock (cows, goats, and alpacas), and while she has shown no aggression, she is very curious—especially about the chickens. So we want to do this right away for everyone's safety, and we want her to be trained.

We’ve researched reputable training facilities near us, and the cost of the training program is about $4,000. This includes structured obedience, livestock exposure, and long-term behavior foundations.

Why we are asking for help? Well, because even though we have the means to give her a home, love, and food, it wasn't in our plans to rescue a pup, but we wouldn't have done it any other way. We are already covering her veterinary visits and basic care, and we are committed to providing her a forever home. We are asking for help with the training portion only because we believe it is the most important investment we can make in her future and the safety of our family.

If you have followed her journey, shared her videos, or simply believe in second chances, any contribution—big or small—means the world to us and especially to her.

If you are unable to donate, sharing the fundraiser helps just as much!

Thank you for being part of her story and helping us turn a rough beginning into a beautiful life.

With love,
Zac, Astrid & Azul, the new member of the Homestead on The Ridge Family
