Hello, my name is Jose Angel, and I’m a 29-year-old former medical student from Venezuela, now living as a refugee in Colombia. I’m raising funds for myself to continue a dream I’ve carried for years to become a doctor and serve others with compassion, skill, and faith.

This calling began when I was a child and watched doctors save my grandmother’s life after a serious accident. Since then, everything I’ve done church work, hospital outreach, volunteering, and four years of medical school has been driven by that spark.

Why I Had to Flee
As Venezuela’s crisis deepened, I could barely afford to reach my hospital rotations. I walked over 10 km daily, went hungry, and often studied through exhaustion. Then, after I peacefully spoke out during a protest, my photo went viral. The regime targeted me, and I was forced to flee leaving behind my family, my school, and everything I knew.

Why This Dream Still Matters
In Colombia, I’ve done everything I can to survive working call center jobs, refereeing soccer games, and helping with medical interpretation. But my dream of becoming a doctor never left me. Medicine, for me, is not just a profession it’s a mission. It’s how I serve God and give back to those in need.

- SAT preparation course (next)
- Credential evaluations
- TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo test
- University application fees
- Document translation
- Visa/legal fees
