From Refuge to Home: Help Her Begin Again

After years in a volatile and emotionally damaging relationship, I reached a breaking point when the abuse became physical. It was no longer safe to stay. For my wellbeing and protection, I was relocated over 200 miles away to a women’s refuge, where I’ve been working hard to rebuild my strength and sense of safety over the past few months.

This past year has been especially difficult — alongside the trauma of domestic abuse, I also underwent surgery for breast cancer. Recovering from that while navigating everything else has been one of the hardest experiences of my life. But through it all, I’ve held onto hope for a fresh start.

Now, a rare and precious opportunity has come my way: the chance to begin again. I’ve secured a rental home in a town far from the danger and fear I left behind — a place where I can finally breathe, heal, and build a peaceful life. But I cannot take this next step alone.

All of my belongings — my furniture, home essentials, and everything that connects me to a stable life — are still in storage. I urgently need help to cover the rental bond and to hire a removal company to transport my belongings the 200 miles to my new home.

I’ve tried every possible route: I’ve reached out to family, explored all forms of assistance, and looked for support — but I’ve come up short. Without financial help, I risk losing this home and the fresh start I’ve fought so hard for.
