From Recovery to Stability: Rowan Needs You
Donation protected
My name is Rowan and I am an addict in recovery living with PTSD, fibromyalgia, and endometriosis. April of 2025 will mark 21 years clean of opioids, 6 years alcohol, and 3 years nicotine.
In 2022, to preserve my sobriety, I cut ties with all of my friends and family and walked away from my 13-year career in healthcare. It was at this point I began to know true recovery. Loneliness, hopelessness, terror, suicidal ideation, and the loss of a 6-year relationship presented many hurdles, but I am proud to say I overcame it all and have a healthy new social circle and am an apprentice in a trade to become a CNC Machinist.
Through all of this and more, I have not had stable housing in 21 years. In the past 5 years, I have moved 5 times. I am currently renting a room. My PTSD is at an all-time high, and I am having trouble doing much of anything. This was supposed to be my safe space to get my life in order to obtain my final, crowning achievement: my own house.
I am working with housing counselors to find a suitable home and have a chance at getting a Homebuyer Dream Grant, but I will still need $5,000 to cover an attorney, closing costs, home inspection, and other necessities. My job does not pay enough at this time to enable me to save, especially with the financial burden of my illnesses.
I would be overwhelmed with any graciousness to help me reach my goal and remain sober, happy, healthy, and most of all, at peace. Please share with anyone you may think can relate to my story. Thank you.
