My Journey: From Pain to Start Again

I began my PhD journey in 2019 with ambition, purpose, and a clear vision for my future. What followed, however, was not just an academic journey — it became a profound test of resilience.

The Fall: Surgery, Pain, and Starting Over

Shortly after beginning my PhD, I underwent an invasive spinal surgery that left me physically fragile and, at times, unable to function independently. Recovery was long, painful, and isolating. I went from being an active, driven professional to someone rebuilding even the simplest aspects of daily life.

The Pandemic: Isolation and Mental Strain

Before I could fully recover, COVID-19 changed everything. Isolation deepened, support systems disappeared, and the uncertainty of both health and academia took a significant toll on my mental wellbeing. Anxiety and depression became part of the journey I never expected.

The Academic Fight: Delays, Persistence, and Completion

Despite setbacks, interruptions, and repeated delays, I did not give up.

Today, I have successfully completed my PhD — a milestone that represents years of persistence, resilience, and determination against circumstances far beyond my control.

The Reality Now: Financial Crisis and Risk of Homelessness

While I have reached the finish line academically, I now face a new and urgent challenge.

Due to the sudden loss of my consultancy contracts and income, I am currently experiencing severe financial instability. As of May 2026, I am at real risk of being unable to meet my rent and basic living costs, placing me at risk of homelessness.

This situation has come at a time when I should be transitioning into the next phase of my career — applying for my Graduate visa, publishing my research, and rebuilding stability. Instead, I am navigating uncertainty about something as fundamental as housing.

Why I Am Asking for Help

I am not asking lightly. I have spent years pushing through adversity with everything I had.

Right now, I need support to stabilise my situation so I can move forward, not backwards.

Your support will help me to:

Secure stable accommodation and avoid homelessness

Cover essential living costs during this critical transition period

Apply for my Graduate visa and remain in the UK

Publish my research and re-enter the professional world

Rebuild a stable, independent life after years of setbacks

A Future Still Worth Building

This is not the end of my journey — it is a turning point.

I have proven my resilience by completing my PhD under extraordinary circumstances. With your support, I can now take the next step: rebuilding my life with dignity, stability, and purpose.

Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a real difference.

Thank You

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for your kindness, and for believing in my ability to rise again.

Your support means more than just financial help — it is a bridge from survival to stability.
