"From Our Hearts to Eva's"

Hello, my name is Brenda Wray. I wanted to take a moment to share an important story on a truly special little girl, my cousin—Miss Eva May—and the incredible strength of her parents, Adam and Sharmayne Erhardt.

Back in 2018, Adam and Sharmayne relocated to Rochester, MN after learning during pregnancy that Eva had a serious heart condition called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). At just four days old, she underwent open-heart surgery with a specialized team at Mayo Clinic. After a rocky start, she came home full of life and light and has continued to shine ever since.

Over the last five years, Eva has been doing remarkably well, with clear scans and stable health at every check-up. But in October 2024, her routine visit brought some unexpected news. A lung perfusion test showed a significant imbalance in blood flow between her lungs—76% to the right, 24% to the left—due to narrowing in her pulmonary artery from her original surgery. Most children with this result show serious symptoms… but not Eva. She continues to amaze everyone with her strength and lack of complications.

A stent placement was scheduled in February 2025, but after further testing during the procedure, her care team discovered that the situation was more complex. The stent was not placed, and now, open-heart surgery has been scheduled for May 21, 2025, once again in Rochester.

Adam and Sharmayne will be relocating to Rochester for several weeks during her recovery, and Sharmayne will be taking up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave to be by Eva’s side every step of the way. Anyone who knows Eva knows she won’t stay still for long—heels, sparkles, makeup, and all—she’ll be back digging in the dirt, singing her heart out, walking Enzo, and filming her dad’s projects before we know it.

So many of you have asked how you can help. If you're able and feel moved to do so, donations toward medical expenses and living costs during this time are deeply appreciated. Every bit helps ease the burden so they can focus on Eva’s healing and well-being.

From the bottom of all our hearts—thank you. For your prayers, encouragement, messages, and support in every form. This family feels your love more than words can say. If you know Adam and Sharmayne, you know they would be first in line to help anyone, so let's show them our support during this difficult time.

We’ll keep you posted as Eva continues her journey. Please keep her in your thoughts on May 21st and beyond.
