Hi, my name is Xavier "Gibran" Vigil, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.
For most of my life, I’ve worked hard, provided for my family, and done my best to handle whatever came our way. Now, I find myself in a place I never imagined and I’m humbly asking for help.
I’ve been battling end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and undergoing dialysis for the past 19 months. On top of that, I’ve lived with diabetes since my early 30s and survived renal cell carcinoma in 2011, which cost me my right kidney. I’ve fought to keep going, to stay active, work hard, and be there for my family but my health has been a constant battle.
This year has been especially tough. I’ve only been able to work nine weeks total, and I’ve been out of work entirely since May 14th. Between dialysis, emergency room visits, mounting complications, and chronic fatigue, I’ve had no choice but to step back.
In the middle of all this, my wife Misty has been the rock of our family. Working hard, holding everything together, and carrying far more than her share. My parents and my brother have been incredibly supportive, stepping in to help us make ends meet. I don’t want to keep leaning on them or feeling like I’m a burden to the people I love.
✨ The Good News
In the midst of the hard times, we’ve also received a blessing:
I am officially active on the transplant list for a kidney and pancreas.
This brings hope that a new chapter, one with better health and a chance at a normal life, might be ahead. Until that day comes, we’re still facing a steep financial climb.
Why We’re Asking for Help

- Basic housing and utility costs during recovery
