The distance between Nova Scotia and Nepal has never felt smaller than it does right now.

I am Nepali, and watching the devastation from the recent floods has been incredibly difficult. Seeing families searching for loved ones, mothers crying for their children, and entire communities suddenly losing so much does not feel like something happening far away.

It feels like my own family is hurting.

Nepal will always be home to a part of me. And Nova Scotia is the community that has welcomed me, supported me, and given me so much to be grateful for.

I want to bring these two worlds together and do something, however small, for the families going through unimaginable loss.

I am asking everyone who can to contribute at least $5.

$5 by itself may not seem like much.

But 100 people giving $5 becomes $500.

1,000 people becomes $5,000.

And when a community decides to care together, something small can become incredibly meaningful.

The funds raised through this campaign will go toward supporting people affected by the disaster, including urgent relief and recovery needs.

All funds raised through this campaign, after any GoFundMe transaction fees, will be donated directly to the Nepal Red Cross Society to support its disaster relief efforts for families and communities affected by the recent floods.

I will keep this fundraiser transparent and share updates here about the money raised, where it is going, and the impact we are able to make together.

I’m a Nepali-Nova Scotian student entrepreneur and the founder of a small Nepali food business called MomoNepal.

I came to Nova Scotia as a teenager to pursue my university education and gain international exposure. I recently graduated from Acadia University and have since moved to Halifax, where I now run MomoNepal full-time while on a post-graduation work permit.
