A Dream in Three Acts: My Journey to London

For as long as I can remember, opera has been my life's passion. At five years old, I was enchanted by the beautiful vibrato of a soprano at my church, and I told everyone I wanted to be an opera singer when I grew up. At 13, I saw my first opera, and at 17, I performed in my first one—I was "bitten by the bug." I knew this was what I was meant to do.

Over the past decade, this dedication has guided me through three degrees in vocal performance, including my bachelor's at the Juilliard School, my master's at Rice University, and my doctorate at the University of Cincinnati. This next program is the pinnacle of my academic and artistic journey.

Now, that dream is becoming a reality. I've been accepted into the prestigious Artist Diploma in Opera Studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Ranked as the 3rd best institution globally for musical and dramatic training, this program isn't just a school; it's a launchpad for my career. It's a chance to work with the world's best and make my mark in the global opera community.

Opera, to me, is the ultimate act of storytelling—a Gesamtkunstwerk, or a "total work of art." It’s an honor to tell stories that have connected people through the centuries. I do it, frankly, because I have to.

The rigorous nature of this program means I won't be able to work consistently while studying. To make this dream possible, I need your help. My goal is to raise $15,000, which will directly cover my expenses for the first six months in London. This will give me the freedom to relentlessly pursue my goals and fully dedicate myself to my studies without financial stress.
