My house in Washington burnt down on May 30th after a guest started a grease fire in the kitchen. I feel very blessed to that me and my cat Pumpkin got out in time and are okay. The fire spread through the kitchen and the living room before my neighbor put it out.
Every bit helps right now and I am very grateful that my son Mitch has taken control of my situation. The whole house will be gutted and I am staying with him in his apartment in Portland. He is helping me find services due to my mobility impairment after a stroke and several falls in the past few years. We aim to have me in a nearby senior apartment by my birthday next month.
I didn't have insurance and am extremely grateful for any help I can get. Mitch is doing all he can which is hard because of his work schedule. He has reached out for medical, transportation, food, veterinarian, and housing services for me. We need to hire movers to move the things I had that weren't damaged in the fire. Almost all my furniture was thrown out but we were able to save all my sentimental things.
