From Migraine to Brain tumor

Hi, my name is Chandra. I’m starting this GoFundMe to be home and support my 14 year old Daughter Keiran through her recent diagnosis of a Brain tumor.

We still have a long road ahead us!

Keiran will be going for her 3rd surgery August 17th to remove the tumor. Then there will be a treatment plan for Chemo and radiation to get rid of the tumor. 

Our shocking and unexpected journey began Monday June 27th when I took Keiran to Olds emergency due to yet another migraine. She was treated quickly by the lovely Dr. Sloan who decided to investigate further the cause of Keiran’s migraines by sending us for a CT scan. As this has been her 4th visit in 2 weeks to the ER. Off to Red deer we went and by 4:00PM we were told the the CT SCAN showed a growth in Keiran’s brain and severe CFS fluid buildup. We were then told to head straight to Calgary Children’s Hospital and the Neurosurgeon would be expecting to see us in the emergency to come up with a plan for surgery. In a matter of 8hrs we went from migraine to admitted to the children’s hospital for Brain surgery.

Keiran had surgery the following Thursday June 30th To relieve the pressure in her brain and biopsy the tumor. 

July 15th we found out that the biopsy did not have enough tissue to diagnose the tumor so Keiran has to go for a second much more invasive open brain surgery to biopsy a larger sample in order to diagnose and proceed with a treatment plan. 

Friday July 22nd Keiran is to be at the Calgary Children’s Hospital first thing in the morning for her second surgery which is said to be all day which is soon to be the longest day of my life. 

With your donation we will be able to cover costs of travel, accommodation the cost of food, and any other unexpected additional cost that may occur with this diagnosis.

In addition, your donation will help cover wage loss due to myself and/or my spouse taking the much need time off work to support our daughter after her surgeries and during her follow up treatment as well as supporting our 3 other Children that are also greatly effected my this sudden diagnosis of their BIG sister.
