This September, The Bureau of Queer Art is partnering with Maryland Art Place in Baltimore to present an exhibition that centers the vibrant, cross-cultural voices of our international queer community. At the heart of this show are artists living and working in Mexico whose work reflects the complexity, resistance, and beauty of queer life across borders.
We are raising funds to transport their artwork from Mexico to Maryland—and back again—ensuring it arrives safely, is exhibited with care, and is returned to each artist after the show. This is not just about logistics. It's about equity, access, and honoring the labor and legacy of artists too often excluded from international opportunities due to rising costs and border restrictions.
Today, the cost to ship a single piece of artwork internationally can exceed an artist’s monthly rent. But visibility should never be limited by financial barriers. These artists are a vital part of our residency programs and exhibition network, and their participation in this show is essential—not symbolic.
Your donation will support:
- Safe packaging, shipping, and customs documentation
- Insurance and handling during transit
- Return shipment to each artist in Mexico
Together, we can uplift queer art that spans continents and challenges borders. Your support ensures these works make the journey they deserve—with care, dignity, and visibility.
Let’s carry this work, and these voices, all the way home.
