Football has always been a huge part of both of our lives. As lifelong supporters of Manchester City and Celtic, we’ve seen firsthand how football can bring people together, create belonging, and provide comfort during difficult times. For many, football is more than a game, it’s an escape, a routine, and a lifeline for mental health. That connection is what inspired us to link this challenge to the sport we love.
In June 2026, we (Seamus Groogan and Odhran Madden) will be taking on a 9-day charity walk from Etihad Stadium in Manchester to Celtic Park in Glasgow, covering over 215+ miles on foot between 8th and 16th June.
This is not a symbolic challenge, it’s a genuine test of physical and mental endurance. Each day we’ll walk between 13 and 31 miles, pushing ourselves to raise money and awareness for two mental health charities that are close to our hearts: S.T.E.P.S and Beacon Counselling Trust.
Our aim is to raise £5,000, with £2,500 going to each charity, to help fund vital mental health support and suicide-prevention services. Mental health affects everyone, and too many people suffer in silence. This walk is our way of starting conversations, remembering those we’ve lost, and supporting those who are still fighting.
To show our commitment, we’re not waiting until June to start. In the months leading up to the walk, we will each complete 105 miles of walking every month, matching the total distance of the main challenge. Every step taken before and during the walk is part of the journey.
We’re also offering a memorial option, where for £10+ donations, you can have the name of someone you’ve lost to suicide printed on our walking tops. Those names will be carried with us for every mile of the journey, ensuring they are remembered and honoured.
If you’re able to donate, sponsor, or simply share our page, you’ll be helping make a real difference. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal and helps support people who need it most.
Thank you for your support ❤️
