From Lyme to Thrive

Donation protected
As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease and several other co-infections back in the Summer of 2017. Since then, I have undergone a great deal of treatment and testing. While I have made great progress, I still have a long road ahead of me. I am learning with each passing day that chronic illness is not something that has a clear end date. This journey of healing has proven to become the center of my life and some days are more challenging than others.

In June of 2018 I started a 7 week long intensive IV therapy, that like most of my treatment/testing, was not covered by insurance. The treatment cost just under $13,000 and after a great deal of thinking, I decided to humbly ask the world for some financial assistance. With the help of family, friends and complete strangers, I was able to undergo the treatment that has helped me the most thus far. To be honest, I am still attempting to process the magnitude of kindness so many showed me during that time and feel I will be trying to do so for many years to come. Since that treatment, I had my PICC line removed and am have finally begun gaining back some of the weight I lost. I have also felt a lift in brain fog and slight improvement with nervous system function but my stamina, immune system, gut and overall well being is still far behind normal. Truth be told, I am not sure I will ever be back to the "old Arielle" but, I am fighting with every fiber of my being to get there.

So, what is next for me in this journey?

My next steps are to continue taking various supplements to kill the infection while also working to repair my body. I must stay consistent with powerful detox protocols, IV therapies and B-12 shots,  in addition to retesting for Lyme and co-infections through IGenix. Beyond that there will also be Heavy Metals Testing, Mold Testing, Hormonal, Adrenal, Thyroid treatments and much more. I would be lying if I said I had this all under control. Some days are easier than others and then there are those sleepless nights where I am paralyzed by panic attacks wondering how on earth I will be able to pay for this all...wondering if this debt will lessen with time. Wondering if I will be able to hike long distance or go for weeks at a time without crippling nausea.

I just turned 28 yesterday and spent the majority of the day reflecting on what this past year and a half has been like and as challenging as most of it has been, there is also a lesson woven through the struggle.

You see, chronic illness has taught me the importance of slowing down. It has taught me the importance of humility and the need of accepting help from others. It has taught me that life isn't meant to be lived, fought for or experienced alone. Life is about love, community and rising together.

There are so many beautiful souls in my life who have asked how they can help me...this is how. Whether you are able to make a small contribution or simply share this fundraiser, the help it will provide is indescribable. So...will you rise along side me?
