Katelyn “Kate” Taylor is an 18-year-old high school senior (graduated on the 22nd of may) who’s all about growing, healing, and making her mom proud. She’s someone who loves the simple things—reading a good book, journaling her thoughts, riding her bike, listening to music, and getting outside to hike and clear her head.
After high school, Kate plans to attend Kennesaw State University to study psychology. Her dream is to become a clinical therapist and eventually earn her master’s or maybe even a doctorate. For her, it’s more than a career—it’s a calling. After losing her mom to gun violence in 2020, Kate’s been on a mission to turn that pain into something meaningful. Her strength comes from her love for her mom, and everything she does is with her in mind.
Life hasn’t always been easy (and don’t even ask her about chemistry—though she somehow passed with a 92!), but Kate keeps going. She’s honest, strong, and driven, with a heart for helping others and a deep faith that keeps her grounded. She’s proof that you can go through hard things and still choose hope every single day.
Thank you to the Cherokee members and staff for all the love and support you’ve shown me over the years. It has truly meant the world to me and my family. I know my mom would’ve loved to see this moment—she would’ve been so proud. Your kindness and encouragement have helped carry me through, and I’m forever grateful.
