Hello! My name is Jordyn Romero, a filmmaker originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico and now based in Santa Barbara. Growing up, my dad and I shared countless adventures in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, connected by our love for the outdoors.
In 2018, my world was shattered when my dad was tragically shot and killed during a home invasion. Losing him in such a violent, senseless way changed everything.
The Course is my way of navigating that loss—not through police reports, but by returning to the mountains and seeking answers from the riding crew who knew my dad best. This deeply personal documentary cycles through the stages of grief, revealing how shared loss can become a path to healing.
Grief is something everyone faces, yet we rarely talk about it. This film creates space for that conversation through movement and community.
After two powerful shoots in New Mexico, we are officially in post-production. These funds will go first to our crew and then toward editing, color, sound, and music so we can craft a film that honors this story. Our goal is to finish by January 2026 and premiere in Santa Fe, followed by a festival run.
Your support will help us honor my dad’s legacy and show that you don’t ride away from grief, you ride with it. And in that ride, you learn that grief doesn’t end a relationship, it transforms it. It becomes the bond between us and the legacy we carry forward.

Thank you for helping make this possible.
