He tries to make himself small.
Small enough to not be a problem.
Quiet enough to not be noticed.
Easy enough to be kept.
And somehow… it still wasn’t enough.
My rescue dog is a 20 lb terrier who was found as a stray at LAX one month ago. He was set to be euthanized, but a kind client took him in to foster while I worked behind the scenes to find him a home.
Without warning, he was surrendered to the West LA shelter on April 11th and named "Butch." I tracked him down and visited the shelter on April 17th, and my heart broke to see him cowering in the kennel.
His fur was soaked in urine, a new skin infection was developing between his toes, and there was fear in his soulful eyes.
He didn’t bark or jump—he just sat there, hoping someone would see him...but I already had....weeks ago, I met him during his wellness exam at our vet office.
He is one of the gentlest dogs I’ve ever met—trusting, forgiving, kind-hearted, and calm.
I paid his adoption fee so he wouldn’t be euthanized or put in the wrong hands. He’ll be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, but he needs more help to heal and feel safe.
Now I need help showing him that he doesn’t have to shrink himself to be loved.
Donations will help cover his medical care, supplies like a bed, toys, collar, leash, and grooming, and support his transition to a loving home. Any support—whether it’s a donation, supplies, or even a foster or adopter—means the world.
Thank you for caring about his second chance.
If you have any LAX-themed name suggestions (like Jet, Aero, Bo-eing, or Captain), I’d love to hear them!
