Help Ma Theung Recover with Family by Her Side

Hi, my name is Khio and we urgently are asking for your help to bring my mom home. I'm looking to raise funds to help support our mom's medical expenses and her road to recovery during this challenging time. It is difficult for me to put into words how important she is to me and my sisters, our family, and her community. For those who know my mom, Ma Theung, she is the sweetest most selfless person I know..always thinking about others before herself.

It was Ma Theung's life goal to grant her mom's wish in spending her final years back home in Laos. This past January, my mom along with her sister embarked on a bittersweet journey to take my grandmother back to her home country. Knowing this could possibly be the last time she would get to see and spend time with her mom, Ma Theung planned to stay back until April and return back home to the states to be with her kids and grandchildren. Her journey sadly took a devastating turn in March. Ma Theung fell ill and was taken to a hospital across the border in Udon Thani, Thailand to receive care. It was discovered she had a ruptured diverticulitis and had to have emergency surgery to save her life. It has been a traumatic experience for our family and her recovery has been an uphill battle with setbacks. This is why we are reaching out to our family, friends, and community for your support.

The emotional toll is immense, but the financial burden is equally daunting. We are facing a lot of obstacles on next steps to ensure Ma Theung is getting the best care and support possible. Medical bills in Thailand have already surpassed $70,000 and growing, and additional funds are needed to bring her back to the US and allow some family members to be by her side during this critical time (travel costs range from $3,000 to $5,000).
