At just 15, Adam sustained a serious C3/C4 unilateral facet fracture dislocation while playing rugby for his School away at St Helens. After undergoing anterior fusion surgery at The Walton Centre, followed by months in a cervical collar, Adam has been back in the gym and in training to assist with his rehabilitation. After an intense Physio program Adam has not only returned to football as a Goalkeeper but he has made his return to the rugby pitch all of which has taken just under 12 months.
To mark this incredible journey, Adam, his family, friends and members of HMS Dreadnought — whose affiliated charity is now The Walton Centre — are taking on huge challenge:
The K2W Bike Ride — from Kells in Whitehaven to The Walton Centre in Liverpool, covering approximately 147 miles over 3 days.
This ride isn’t just about distance — it’s about resilience, community, and giving back.
Funds raised will support both Kells ARLFC Youth part of Kells ARLFC who is an amateur rugby league club based in Kells, Whitehaven, with a long history, strong community roots, and teams ranging from youth age groups to open age and The Walton Centre who is a specialist hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive neurology, neurosurgery, spinal and pain management services. The funds will assist them in providing the best treatment and care possible for its patients and their families.
Follow the journey. Share the story. Support the cause.

“The support I have had along my journey from the second the injury happened to me stepping back on to the field against Goldbourne Parkside has been overwhelming. Messages of support from Coaches, Team mates, School friends, the local community to sport stars and of course my family has inspired me too not only get back playing sport but also to give something back to the places that have helped me so they can continue to help and support others.”
