FROM HOMELESSNESS TO HEALING .... The journey

As you already know, Eager To Serve, Inc. (ETS) is a New York State not-for-profit 501 (C) 3 organization corporation established in 1990 to promote, foster, and advance the health, welfare, and well-being of children and their families. We do this by providing educational, recreational, cultural, and residential services.

Our "From Homelessness To Healing" project, uses psychological theory accompanied by intensive case management, to help people transition out of homelessness. Improving the whole person(s) socially, physically, intellectually, cognitively, emotionally, spiritually, and financially, empowers individuals.

Each person has a unique situation and there is no one size fits all solution to the many issues that result in homelessness. Our approach centers around the understanding that each family and/or individual has strengths to build upon and weaknesses which requires healing.

One person's story, Rene’s story, involves physical and sexual abuse; which in turn, resulted in homelessness. During the healing process he was able to flee the abuse and gain a level of self-reliance. Thereafter, his ability to break through the psychological, physical and emotional abuse emerged with intensive case management; which facilitated the healing process and resulted in family reconciliation.

Rene emphasizes that by the grace of God he survived and is now happily married with children, owns a home and lives in Nassau County. He has been volunteering with ETS on a weekly basis for several years.

ETS has been serving the homeless for the past 19 years. As of 2023, ETS has been instrumental in improving the lives of over three thousand fifteen (3,015) homeless heads of households (individuals and/or families) with very limited government funding.

The "From Homelessness To Healing", project operates out of a beautiful old home, here on Long Island. In addition to assisting us with case management support, your support will also help us with major and minor home repairs, including basic needs items for those in need. Your tax-deductible gift of $75, $100, $200 or any amount is okay.
