Aloha. The last 6 months have been very stressful, with a combination of serious illnesses and personal issues dominating my life.
In late January, I went through a horrible case of ocular shingles. It took several weeks to resolve, and I was mostly unable to work during that time. From late February through the middle of April, I worked a seasonal job for the tax season. Following that, work at my regular job dropped off precipitously, and has been off and on ever since.
Beginning in late May, I began working on a huge purge and clean-out of my apartment in order to get a handle on a longstanding hoarding problem. I had to realize that it was having a horrible impact on my health, both physically and mentally. It took my getting professional help (with the help of a dear friend) to manage it so that I would not be forced out of my home of nearly five years. And - now that that's out of the way and I am well onto a better track moving forward - I came down with Covid (first time ever!) a week ago.
I have lost so much work over the last few months that it's almost unbelievable. But I'm still standing, and I refuse to give up on myself.
I've reluctantly decided to put together a fundraiser to get me through the month of August and into September. I'm finally able to work regularly again, and there may be some positive changes on the horizon in terms of job opportunities. I'm looking to raise $1,800 to make sure I can clear my rental ledger and get ahead, pay for my Internet access (necessary for my WFH job) and my cellphone, and for several other upcoming bills that are currently out of reach.
Any amounts are welcome. I would not still be alive if it weren't for the kindness of both friends and strangers. Your kōkua is greatly appreciated. Mahalo and Aloha!
