From Hero to Warrior: Dulce Maria's Fight Against Leukemia.

I want to share the story of a very special little girl named Dulce María, and the incredible, heartbreaking journey that she and her mother have been through — a journey of resilience, sacrifice, and unconditional love.

Back in August 2017, Dulce María’s mother was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. What followed was a brutal five-year battle, filled with chemotherapy — 38 sessions in total — and countless days of fear and hope. She was placed on multiple transplant waiting lists, but a matching donor never came.

Then, in 2021, she received unexpected news: she was pregnant. It was a moment filled with both joy and fear. Continuing the pregnancy meant suspending her cancer treatment — an almost impossible decision. But she chose to carry on with the pregnancy. She chose life.

Just two months later, she discovered she was expecting twins — a boy and a girl. But at six months, tragedy struck: an ultrasound showed that the little boy no longer had a heartbeat.

In the midst of this loss, a small miracle emerged. Her doctors informed her that it was now possible to attempt a transplant. Still pregnant, her baby girl — Dulce María — became her donor, and the stem cells of the baby boy who had passed were also used in the transplant. Thanks to both of them, she was able to go into remission. The transplant worked.

Dulce María was born in 2022, healthy and strong, and from the very beginning she was a miracle — the baby who had saved her mother’s life.

But now, that same little girl needs a miracle of her own.

After turning one, Dulce María started experiencing unexplained high fevers. At first, doctors believed it was just a virus. But in late 2024, her symptoms worsened — she lost weight dramatically and became malnourished. Despite numerous medical exams, no one could explain her condition.

Finally, a bone marrow aspiration revealed the devastating truth:
Dulce María has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, type B.

Because the disease is in an advanced stage, there is no time to wait for a transplant. Her best and only chance now lies in a cellular regeneration treatment — an innovative, high-cost therapy that is not covered by her health insurance.

Her family is doing everything in their power to raise the funds, but they can’t do it alone. That’s why I’m writing this — not just as a friend, but as someone who has witnessed their strength, their love, and their fight.

Dulce María gave her mother life. Now, we have the chance to give her a future.

Please help us give this brave little girl the treatment she urgently needs.
