From Her Heart to Ours: Carrying Theresa’s Light Forward

Honoring the Life and Legacy of Theresa Renee Ituareito Guaninanichi Delgado-Tossas

With deep sorrow and love, we share the sudden passing of our beloved Theresa Renee Ituareito Guaninanichi Delgado-Tossas, who left us on the morning of April 18, 2025.

Theresa had been quietly navigating ongoing health challenges in recent years, including multiple gastrointestinal surgeries. Despite it all, she remained a constant light — always checking in on family, offering words of encouragement, and staying deeply connected to those she loved. That was the essence of Theresa: selfless, compassionate, and unwavering in her care for others.

A loving wife, daughter, friend, and cousin, Theresa carried a heart full of generosity, wisdom, and fierce love for her family, her Taino heritage, and her community. She was a bridge — connecting our family, honoring our ancestors, and sharing cultural knowledge with deep pride.

During times of crisis, especially following Hurricane Maria, Theresa and her husband, Ralph, sprang into action. They worked tirelessly to get essentials to those in need before federal help could arrive — a testament to Theresa’s spirit of service and advocacy.

The family has chosen cremation, and arrangements are still being finalized. All services will take place in her beloved homeland of Puerto Rico, where her roots and heart have always remained.

In this time of mourning, we’re asking for your support. This GoFundMe has been created to assist Ralph and the family with funeral and memorial expenses, and to continue supporting the causes that meant the most to Theresa — especially those tied to community care, animals, and cultural preservation.
