Hi, my name is Nyvae Scott. I’m a freshman at Hampton University, a place I worked so hard to get to—a place that represents hope, change, and a better future for me and my family. But right now, I’m at risk of not being able to return for my second semester because of a $4,000 balance I can’t afford to pay on my own.
Growing up, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges that come with generational struggles. I’ve watched my family do their best to make ends meet, often sacrificing their own dreams to ensure I could pursue mine. I made a promise to myself and to them that I would break the cycle, that I would be the one to rise above and create a new path for us.
Attending Hampton University isn’t just about getting a degree—it’s about changing the trajectory of my life and creating opportunities that my family has never had. My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s shaped me into the person I am today. As a child, I experienced the heartbreak of my biological parents’ incarceration. Those events turned my world upside down, but my aunt stepped in and adopted me, giving me a stable home and a chance to dream of a brighter future.
Studying finance isn’t just a career path—it’s my way of learning how to build generational wealth and ensure that my future and my family’s future look brighter than our past.
I’ve completed my first semester at Hampton with strong grades, and I’ve worked incredibly hard to succeed academically. This journey has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life, and I’m committed to my education and my goals. However, despite all my efforts, I can’t overcome this financial hurdle on my own.
I’m reaching out to you because I believe in the power of community. I believe that people who care can make a difference in someone’s life. Your support, whether big or small, means more to me than words can express. It’s not just helping me stay in school—it’s helping me fulfill a dream that’s bigger than myself.
Please consider donating or sharing my story with others. Together, we can make sure that financial barriers don’t stop me from becoming the person I’m meant to be. Thank you for believing in me and for being a part of my journey.
