Urgent ! Help a doctor to evacuate from Gaza

Donation protected
My name is Mahmoud Abu Matar, a 26-year-old doctor from Gaza. Since the beginning of the war, my life has completely changed. What was once a path filled with hope and ambition has turned into a daily struggle to survive. I used to work in Al-Najar Hospital in Rafah, doing my best to help people in the emergency department. But after the recent evacuation from Rafah, I lost my position and I’m now searching again for any medical fieldwork just to continue gaining experience and stay active as a doctor. The situation in Gaza is beyond what words can describe. The crossings have been closed for long periods, and prices are unimaginably high. Every day feels heavier than the one before. We live with the constant fear of bombing, the weight of uncertainty, and the pain of watching everything collapse around us. We live in a small warehouse now, with no basic needs. No electricity, no clean water, and no privacy. It’s hard to call it a home.

The emotional pressure is unbearable — I am not only trying to survive but also carry the responsibility of my family, my wife, and my own future that feels like it’s fading away.

One day, just a few meters away from our home, our neighbor’s house was completely destroyed by a sudden airstrike. There was no warning, no chance to run. That moment changed everything. We stood helpless as the dust filled the sky and the screams filled the air. Since then, we’ve never felt safe again — not even for one minute.

The health conditions here are worsening every week. Due to the environment, the lack of sanitation, and overcrowded shelters, every week brings a new outbreak — from stomach viruses to skin infections and respiratory diseases. This is the reality: we live in an open disaster, with no way to heal, no way to prevent the next illness.

These are my parents. I am responsible for their care. My father is retired and has no income. My mother suffers from multiple health conditions, and we struggle to get her medicine. Most essential medications are no longer available in UN clinics, so we’re forced to buy them from local pharmacies — when we can afford them. There is no regular follow-up, no proper care. I watch them suffer daily, and I feel powerless.

I am a doctor — but I’m trapped in a place where medicine, peace, and opportunity barely exist. My wife’s future as a medical student is frozen, and I can’t promise her anything. My own future as a doctor is unclear. I’ve worked so hard to reach this point, but now I don’t know how to move forward. Any kind of support can help me and members of my family find a way out. A way to live again because all of you know that Ya Hala company charges 5000 USD for everyone wants to leave Gaza.
