Hello everyone,

My name is Mohammed Jhaish. I'm a YouthCode-Gaza student. This is not my first GoFundMe campaign. Two years ago, I launched one to help evacuate my family and me from Gaza. Thanks to your generosity, we made it to safety—though our future, especially my education, was uncertain.

In June 2024, I received support from both the Gazan Students Support Network (GSSN) and Code.X, who guided me through applying to universities in the United States. In October, I applied to Stanford University through the Restricted Early Action round, and I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted to the Class of 2029. At a time when it is hard to find a deep sense of home, Stanford became that home for me.

I have been awarded a full-ride financial aid package, which covers tuition, housing, and dining costs. However, it does not include other essential living expenses that I will need to cover myself.

Since leaving Gaza, my father (formerly an UNRWA employee) has been suspended from his job, making it impossible for my family to support me financially.

That is why I am launching this new GoFundMe campaign, to help cover the additional costs of my first two years at Stanford.

It will help cover:

Mobile plan: $1,200 ($50/month × 24 months)

Personal essentials (clothing, hygiene items, etc.): $3,000

Pocket money (12 months × 2 years × $300/month): $7,200

Dormitory essentials (desk supplies, bedding, study supplies, etc.): $3,000

Emergency fund (medical co-pays, urgent travel, or broken items): $2,000

GoFundMe Fees (2.9% 16400): $475

Total needed for two years≈ $17,000
